UFC 157 To Feature Unprecedented Main Event Fight

February, 23rd will see the first-ever women's fight in the Octagon when "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey defends herself against challenger Liz Carmouche in the Main Event. This will mark a huge step for not just professional women fighters looking for a shot in the UFC, but also for women martial artists everywhere.

The UFC will be releasing a three-part documentary series (part one is above) as the fight nears. It provides an inside look at both female fighters as they reveal their personal stories and training routines. So far it looks to be a solid series, well produced and entertaining. In other words: You won't regret watching it. Stay tuned to the blog here later in the week as part two is set to be released on Valentine's Day.

Whether you're a Rousey fan or not, it's hard not to root for Carmouche. I for one am torn. I've always enjoyed watching Rousey fight but, then again, I love an underdog. Hearing Carmouche's back-story and seeing her situation pretty much guarantees that a large part of me will be hoping for an upset come the 23rd. Now we just have to hope that, no matter who wins, the turn-out (read: paying customers) will be enough to show the UFC that women's fights can be just as profitable as their male counterparts.
