Ninja Turtle Movie Delays Cease, Begins Shooting In April

After a brief stint with a series of unfortunate events, it appears that Michael Bay's much maligned (or lauded, depending on your taste in explosions) re-boot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is back on the production track.

Astute readers of our martial arts blog will remember last year's earliest Ninja Turtle news when it was revealed that not only would blockbuster director, Michael Bay, be involved in the project, but he would also be giving them an alien origin rather than a mutant one. It took all of 12 parsecs for the internets to erupt in flames of fanboy fury. While the actual details of the Turtle's 'alien' origins is still unclear, this has left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

Last Summer also saw the film's release date pushed back to May 16, 2014. Yet another bad sign as to the the finished product of the newest Turtle franchise entry. While no real reasons were given by the studio it was speculated that perhaps the extra time would be spent fleshing out a solid story for the Teenagers.

And who could forget the infamous 'leaked TMNT script of Summer '12? This was course when someone claimed to have gotten their hands and eyes on an early script for the film. According to the source there were mentions of many staple villains of the series (a good thing), while further details seemed to confirm the 'Turtles in space' direction of earlier fears.

Of course, with a shooting date officially announced, I'm sure you can look forward to the usual flood of rumors, leaked pics, and marketing ploys that plague your usual blockbuster flicks.
