Martial Arts Weapon Cases, Racks & Display Stands

Martial Arts Weapon Cases, Racks & Display Stands
If you've trained with martial arts weapons for any length of time, you already know how important it is to store and transport them properly. A good case helps protect your gear from damage and keeps everything organized between classes or trips to the dojo. At KarateMart.com, we carry all kinds of storage options, from padded cases for bo staffs and swords to specialty bags for nunchaku, kama, and other traditional weapons. Our weapon cases come in different sizes and materials depending on what you're carrying. Some are made from canvas or nylon with zippers and carry handles, while others offer extra padding or reinforced compartments to help protect delicate blades or more expensive gear. If you're hauling a long bo or multiple escrima sticks, you'll find larger cases designed specifically for them. And, if you just need a lightweight nunchaku bag or a throwing star pouch, we have those as well. Storage is only half the equation though. Many martial artists also want a clean way to display their weapons when they're not being used. That's why we carry several styles of wooden weapon stands, including simple desktop sword racks and multi-weapon holders. These are great for showing off a katana or organizing your bo, tonfa, and other gear in one place. Some stands are designed for traditional Japanese swords, while others are more universal in shape, so you can use them for a variety of weapons.

This section also includes shoulder harnesses for sword transport and wall-mountable racks that let you hang your favorite staff or blade like a piece of art. Whether you're looking to keep your training area organized or just want a better way to display your collection at home, having the right case or stand can make a big difference.

Do Your Weapon Cases Work for Travel or Checked Luggage?

Some of our weapon cases are well-suited for travel, especially the padded nylon or canvas models with secure zippers and handles. If you're flying to a tournament or seminar, it's important to check with your airline first, since rules about carrying martial arts weapons can vary. For checked luggage, soft cases may not offer enough protection on their own, so we recommend placing the case inside a hard-sided suitcase or using additional padding around the weapon. For car travel or everyday transport, these cases work great and help keep your gear protected and organized.

What's the Difference Between a Sword Case and a Scabbard?

A sword case is designed for carrying and storing your sword, often with padding or straps to keep the blade secure. It's a separate container that goes around the entire weapon and is usually made from nylon, canvas, or leather. A scabbard, on the other hand, is a rigid sheath that stays on the sword itself, typically made from wood or plastic. Scabbards are meant for quick draw or carrying on your body, while sword cases are better for protection and transport when the sword isn't in use. Many martial artists use both; a scabbard during practice and a case for safe travel.

How Do I Mount a Wall Display Stand or Rack?

Most of our wall-mounted weapon stands come with pre-drilled holes for easy installation. You'll just need a screwdriver or drill, a pencil, and basic hardware like screws and wall anchors. Start by holding the stand against the wall and marking where the screw holes will go. If you're mounting into drywall, use anchors to make sure it stays secure. For heavier weapons like swords or bo staffs, try to screw directly into a wall stud for better support. Once installed, the stand can safely hold your weapons for display and easy access.

Will a Nylon Case Protect My Weapon from Rain or Moisture?

Most nylon weapon cases offer some level of water resistance, but they aren't completely waterproof. If you're caught in light rain or carrying your weapons through damp conditions, a nylon case will help keep moisture out long enough to protect your gear. However, if the case is exposed to heavy rain or left on wet ground, water may still seep through the fabric or zipper seams. For added protection, consider using a plastic liner or placing the case inside a waterproof duffel bag when traveling in bad weather.

Can These Cases or Bags Be Washed or Cleaned?

Yes, most of the soft weapon cases on this page can be cleaned with mild soap and water. For nylon or canvas bags, it's best to wipe them down with a damp cloth or sponge and let them air dry completely before storing your weapons inside again. Avoid using harsh chemicals or soaking padded cases, since that can affect the internal structure or stitching. If your case has accumulated dust or dirt over time, a quick vacuum or soft brush can also help keep it looking and functioning like new.

Is It Okay to Store Swords in a Soft Case for Long Periods?

Soft cases are great for protecting your weapons during transport or short-term storage, but they're not the best choice for long-term use. This is especially true for live blades. Materials like canvas or nylon can trap moisture over time, which may lead to rust or corrosion on metal surfaces. If you're storing a real sword or other sharpened weapon for more than a few days, it's best to remove it from the soft case and keep it in a dry, well-ventilated space. A scabbard, wooden display stand, or hard case is usually a better option. You may also want to apply a light coat of blade oil to help prevent rust.
