The pointed 'blade' is not sharpened, not even close, on the tip or either side of the edges. This gives you confidence to swing and catch your mistakes, but don't stay in the habit of that for long!
Folding up to about 5 inches long and weighing only 4.5 ounces, you can take these training balisongs around without them taking up too much space. The would-be blade folds perfectly into the handles, which then latch together with a swinging bar that can be adjusted to apply more passive pressure to keep it closed. This also gives you more options for speed, whether you are spinning fast than the eye can follow, or if you want slow lofty flips like you're going in slow motion. Either way, your tricks will eventually impress, but you have to practice first with an unsharpened butterfly trainer!
