Go out into the woods much? Then you know that a slicing tool can mean the difference between comfort and discomfort, dinner or starving, and safety verses vulnerability. With a Wood Grain Damascus Pocket Knife by your side, you won't have to feel unsafe, discomfort, or longing for a meal.

This pocketknife has many interesting features. The blade is forged of 440 stainless steel, but it doesn't look like it! You'll know what we mean when you tab open the spring assisted blade and examine the laser print all over. The two-toned gray print looks like a topographic map with ripples all over, but this effect more so mimics Damascus steel, the legendary alloy that was tough as can be. Sometimes called 'rose steel', a true Damascus sword could slice a lesser sword in two. Let that sink in!

The blade shape is called a Neesmuk, named after the penname of a writer and canoer who popularized it in the 1800s. Shaped much like a kukri but without the recurve bend, this blade shape has a large belly on the top half that, as Mr. Sears said, is good for "skinning, cutting meat, and eating". He was ready for dinner, no? The curve of the sharpened 3.25-inch blade gives a wide edge for all of these tasks and more, like cutting rope or stripping a tree branch. The liner lock is black steel, and with the spring-assisted opening tab, it won't be long before you are keeping this knife out and at the ready all the time.

Since Mr. Sears was what we would call today an 'ultralight backpacker', it is safe to assume that he would have relied heavily on his pocket knives for both safety and survival. Also part of this outdoors faux Damascus knife is the oak wood handle piece, but only on one side. The other side has the black metal clip that will secure this hunting blade wherever you clip it, on your belt, pocket, or as part of your gear bag. Folded, this wooden handled knife is just under 5 inches long. The bottom of the knife handle has a machined lanyard hole so you can string some paracord through and attach it to your stuff.

With the seasons changing and the call of adventure coming through the trees, it may be time to pick up an 8 ounce survival knife that reaches just under 8 inches unfolded to take with you to the outdoors. Maybe between slices of dinner, you can write and reflect on nature just as Mr. Sears did in 1884.
