Full-Tang Samurai Tanto
The ideology from the country of Japan is distinct due to their attention to detail, discipline towards mastery, and unrelenting pursuit of perfection. This ethos was transmitted to the Samurai Warriors that fought in feudal Japan, with their swords swinging for the honor of the emperor. If those swords were knocked away, then the fighters would be left with their tanto knife. This fixed hand blade was given every design luxury as the primary weapon, be it swords or naginatas, and was tucked into the clothing and armor to make it available during hand to hand combat. The pointed tip of this blade was used to pierce through armor from close up, or more ideally to find the weak spots in that protection to deliver the final fatal strikes. While the usage of these knives has changed, the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness during their creation has stayed the same.
This full tang samurai tanto enjoys harmony between all of the 5 elements. The wood saya is a Shirasaya style, which is the squared box design to fit tight together, sanded and polished to nicely fit each side and to be smooth to the touch. The metal comes from the full tang of steel running from the tip of the pointed straight edge down to the hilt, with thumb grooves etched flush into the tang so you know which side has the sharpened edge. Air is represented in the saya, the empty space that you push the 5 5/8-inch sharpened blade into to keep it concealed and safe, with rubber lining the entrance so the blade doesn't knock around once it is closed. And lastly, the water comes from the reflection of the silver colored 440 stainless steel, cool in temperature and in style as this impressive tanto style blade sends waves into the atmosphere around it. It is up to you, the user, to add the fire of life into this weapon once it reaches your open hands.
This classic fixed blade tanto knife has been beautifully crafted to give you the best option for an elegantly concealed defense weapon that can sit stored in your home office or be taken out and about with you as part of an emperor costume or Samurai cosplay. These Japanese-style knives weigh about 10 ounces, and have a total length of about 10 3/4-inches. The close fitting saya and rubber closure were designed for the traditional use of storing these blades long term during times of peace, but that doesn't mean this knife isn't practical or can't take common every day usage. The dark wood enclosed scabbard makes this modern tanto knife beautiful to have around, and the sharpened wide steel blade means it can perform a variety of cuts for you. The charm of this knife is found in both the classical functionality and the modern durable materials, again finding balance between many elements.
