Many ninjas and other practitioners of kobudo have a preference for nunchucks with cords because they wish to practice kata in silence. Corded nunchaku also have an advantage over nunchucks with chains because they are easier to adjust and even repair. This is why we have created the Corded Aluminum Hexagon Nunchaku as an alternative to the Solid Aluminum Hexagon Nunchucks. We believe in choice.
Like those other metal nunchucks, these corded hexagon chucks have 10" handles. Even with such short handles, the solid metal nunchaku are still very heavy because each handle is made from a solid block of aluminum alloy to make the set weigh over a pound and a half. The 5" nylon cord is strong enough to handle that extra weight and move at any velocity that you can give it without tearing apart. You'll also agree that the classical hexagon design of these metal himo nunchaku gives you a solid grip as you swing away.
As with many of our unique metal weapons, the extra weight is designed to get you used to applying more of your strength to your kata. "This set of nunchucks is superb, it is the best set of nunchucks that I have seen yet in my life. Their handling is very lightweight and the cord connecting the handles is very solid but at the same time it doesn't feel so stiff that it might give you the feeling that one handle will go flying out when you swing this set of chucks (the weight of the handles go in accord with the resistance given by the nylon cord). In addition for the versatility of this set of chucks the cord can be replaced easily in case it breaks for any reason (not likely to happen but you never know "check your set before usage though"). The handles are very solid hand their hexagonal shape is beautifully sculpted. The handles are as heavy as the version of the aluminum hexagonal chucks with a metal chain sold at karatemart.com, this is a very beautiful set for a collector and a very practical and usable one."
