"It's actually held together with chains, and not metal rings. The riveted cuffs are made of some kind of galvanized copper or brass. I could tell it wasn't steel, because it was chipping away from the cuffs near the top where the chain connected on one section. The wood wasn't as tough as I thought it was, and it quickly accumulated scratches and scuffs in the brief time I enjoyed using it, occasionally shattering thin tree branches for fun. This isn't really a big deal, as I bought a plain looking weapon for a reason- so there wouldn't be any cheap paint job to ruin. After about three days of basic practice, like spinning, and figure eights, I accidentally knocked one of the sections against my ordinary wooden fence, and the ball bearings popped out, leaving me with some giant nun chucks, and a stick. If you want a weapon that looks nice from far away, and never plan on risking its fragile condition by using it, this is the staff for you.

Staff Reply - Please understand that this is a demo weapon, not yard equipment. We do not recommend hitting trees or fences with this weapon as damage is likely to result from such use. Having said that, this customer received a replacement weapon, although we did not know exactly how it came to be damaged when we sent the replacement."
