This legendary metal is said to have been produced using an ancient technique that has not yet been fully replicated in modern times. The chemical process of anodization is used to produce the dark red copper color of the blade, giving the katana it's most distinct feature. The finished blade is secured to the 11" handle (tsuka) with two bamboo pins that can be removed if disassembly is ever required. A hand painted, zinc alloy tsuba is complemented by detailed zinc alloy fittings, including a handle band (fuchi), pommel (kashira), and decorations (menuki). Real ray skin panels on the handle are wrapped with black cotton cord. A black lacquered scabbard protects the razor sharp blade when not in use or on display. A black cloth sword bag and a red brocade covered sword case with silk lining are included, so your katana looks beautiful even when being protected from damage.
