The legendary story of the 47 Ronin is a tale still told in theaters to this day. The epic narrative of the warriors, their foes, and the revenge they delivered holds all of the good and bad facets of humanity in the words that describe it. Had they known their fate in the end, these fighters may have chosen a different direction in life, but instead, they carried the Dark Ronin Katana and ran to meet their fate.

This hand-forged katana is a dark and mysterious blade that is full tang and made of 1045 high carbon steel. The sharp edge is given an aesthetic hamon line with long fullers close to the spine, allowing this blade to sail through the air with ease and silence. The battle-ready sharpened steel will keep it's edge for a long time to come, even after the story of the 47 is told over and over. This is due to the high carbon steel that makes this katana tough as nails, if not tougher.

The decorative handle of this black Ronin sword is crafted from wood to contain the full tang of the steel, and then covered in authentic white ray skin. This traditional covering was the first "non-slip" material for katanas, and today is the mark of a high quality weapon. The ray skin is secured in place with antiqued menuki, or protective dragon pendants, and the entire 10.75-inch handle is then expertly wrapped in a black woven cord. This diamond pattern is quint-essential for modern katanas, and is known as a tsuka-ito. The elements of this handle come together flawlessly to provide you with a secure hold onto this samurai sword.

The saya, or scabbard, of this Ronin sword is a well-crafted wooden tube that houses the blade when it is on display. The glossy black lacquer coats the wood all over, save for a few kanji symbols that are carved down to the grain, and a water droplet yin and yang symbol on the other side. This gorgeous saya is designed to protect the high carbon blade, and it does so with grace and style.

With a total length of almost 41-inches and weighing around 2 pounds 10 ounces, this Ronin samurai sword is an excellent collector's weapon that will carry on the story of all 47 warriors who tried to right what was wrong. The hand-crafted blade, scabbard, and tsuba all show that stories carry elements of truth with them, no matter how far after the fact they are told.
