Martial Arts Actor Spotlight: Dolph Lundgren
Close to two months ago Time magazine featured an interesting list of "Brilliant Classroom Characters: The Top 10 Wicked Smart Actors". While much of the list is worth taking a look at, one name stood out more than others. Dolph Lundgren, whose martial arts action background could inspire jealousy alone, also maintains a shockingly impressive academic background that few people seem to realize.

Continue reading for a brief rundown of some of Mr. Lundgren's more impressive accomplishments both on and off screen.

Young Female Martial Arts Student Uses Kung Fu Expertise To Subdue Attackers

The big news in martial arts today didn't have anything to do with top-winning karate champion or the latest mixed martial arts fight. As the above video interview shows, two Washington teens were given a rude awakening when they accosted young kung fu practitioner, Priscilla Dang.

Perhaps the most fascinating element of the story involved how well Priscilla handles the situation mentally. As she describes the events, one gets the sense that she was almost completely aware of her training during the entire exchange. No easy feat given the situation which ultimately culminated in one of the boys brandishing a knife.
Better Memory Through Tai Chi: New Study Connects Brain Health To Ancient Martial Art

If you or someone you love is at high risk for the devastating disease of Alzheimer's a new study may prove some aid in combating the most familiar symptoms.

A recent collaborative undertaking between University of South Florida and Fudan University (Shanghai) discovered marked increases in brain volume as well as memory function in elderly Chinese. What was the contributing factor to the improvement? According to the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, the seniors were on a regiment of Tai Chi classes for three times a week.

Jackie Chan Breaks Bricks While Holding An Egg, Egg Remains Unharmed

It wasn't too long ago that the internet was ablaze with Jackie Chan fans begging the martial artist not to retire from action films. It wasn't a full 24-hours after making the statement that Mr. Chan felt compelled to better explain his meaning. The internet was appeased.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, we have a clip of Jackie Chan on a German television show of some kind. What the show is about is unimportant (which is good because I have absolutely no idea), but what is important is that it features Jackie performance an amazing physical feat using only an egg and some bricks. Watch and be amazed.
New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series Trailer Aims For The Kids

For those of you aching to see some footage of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in all of their CGI glory before they officially land on Nickelodeon later this year, you'll want to give this trailer a peek. As a (slightly) older TMNT fan, this trailer was definitely a bit too geared towards the young'uns for my tastes.

I know full well it's a kids show, but I was so hoping for something a little darker. Of course, if you've always been a fan of anthropomorphic amphibians shouting "Boo-ya-ka-sha!" at their foes, then by all means have a ball. I'll be over here watching some He-Man cartoons.
