Kung Fu Vettel: Drive of the Dragon Short Is Officially Released

For those of who are gigantic fans of extra cheesy martial arts action, the much anticipated Kung Fu film/commercial "Kung Fu Vettel: Drive of the Dragon" has finally landed on Internet shores. And it's about what you'd expect.

It's entertaining as far as light-hearted martial arts 'films' centered around a paper-thin premise with a luxury car tie-in starring race car champions go. But that's about it. Honestly, I know it's a glorified commercial that can only fit so much story/action in approximately 5 minutes, but I've seen some pretty darn good 5-minute short films that managed to be more interesting with half the budget.

I hate to be a total downer about it, so watch the film for yourself and let us know what you think in a comment.
A Weight Trainer, A Black Belt, And A Comprehensive Physical Fitness Blog

For those of you readers who have searched every end of the web and struggle to find a reliable, useful source of information on exercise and staying fit, it looks like you're in luck!

A blog website was launched today with articles written by David LaMartina, an experienced weight trainer and fitness expert, and Russel Hudson. According to news sources, Hudson is a black belt of “martial arts,” but they do not specify which particular art. As of the launch, the site looks promising and has several articles with useful tips on diet, certain exercises, and fitness routines. Let's hope the writers keep busting out articles on a regular basis! I don't care personally since I'm already a master ninja, but I'm sure you guys will enjoy it.

...Alright, alright, you got me. I will be keeping up with the Physical Fitness Training blog to glean some of that intel, and to make sure they add on more content. You can check it out for yourself right here.
Ninja Turtles Artwork Auction: FINAL UPDATE (We Really Mean It This Time)

Remember when we told you last week how all ONLINE bidding had ceased on that precious first-drawing of Kevin Eastman's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Well our friends at (Comic Book Resources) came up with the final numbers on that much coveted piece of Ninja Turtle history. Guesses?

The first ever drawing of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles officially sold for $71,700 to an anonymous (presumably pizza loving) bidder. So it did see a bit of a jump from that steady (measly?) $50,000 that the online bidding had it parked at.

Martial Arts Video Game 'Sleeping Dogs' Gets New Gameplay Trailer

The upcoming martial arts focused video game from Square Enix that we've told you about just got a brand new gameplay trailer that has officially placed this title on my radar. It may not have reached 'Instant Buy' status just yet but things are on a good course.

If you're at all interested in martial arts inspired video games looking to try new things, you owe it to yourself to check out the video above.

Sleeping Dogs will be available on August 14th for the usual systems.
A Short Tribute To Karate Fighters In MMA

Who says “traditional” Eastern martial arts can't be used in the ring? Well, a lot of people...but not the guys in this video!

Karate and closely related styles usually get tossed to the side when you want to talk about cage-effective martial arts. MMA has evolved over the years and is known now for hosting fighters specialized mainly in muay thai, boxing, wrestling, and Brazilian ju-jitsu. In an MMA environment with MMA rules, it's really no surprise that it's very difficult to pull off a good career grounded in Oriental martial arts.

So today, we salute those fighters who managed to take their karate-dominant martial arts backgrounds, bring it to the MMA world, and – consistently – deck their opponents in the face with it! Such is a feat that has earned professional fighters like Lyoto Machida and Bas Rutten their fame and reputations. Sit back and enjoy the end of the week with front kick K.O.'s, palms to the liver, and glorious battle music.
