UFC 157 To Feature Unprecedented Main Event Fight

February, 23rd will see the first-ever women's fight in the Octagon when "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey defends herself against challenger Liz Carmouche in the Main Event. This will mark a huge step for not just professional women fighters looking for a shot in the UFC, but also for women martial artists everywhere.

The UFC will be releasing a three-part documentary series (part one is above) as the fight nears. It provides an inside look at both female fighters as they reveal their personal stories and training routines. So far it looks to be a solid series, well produced and entertaining. In other words: You won't regret watching it. Stay tuned to the blog here later in the week as part two is set to be released on Valentine's Day.
DC Comics Fighting Game, Injustice: Gods Among Us Releases New Gameplay Video

As if I needed an excuse to post anything Batman related, the upcoming DC Comics fighting game I told you about last year has started what looks to be its last big promotion before the release of the game in April. The first video shows an awesome square-off between two of comic book history's most volatile meetings, Batman and Bane.

Continue reading for more details about the promotional tournament and for another full battle video between Wonder Woman and (my personal fave) Harley Quinn.

Welcome to a brand new edition of Striking Stars, where we take a closer look at some of the surprising celebrities with martial arts backgrounds. The famous figure under out celebrity spotlight today may not be easily recognizable without a football helmet, but when he's not busy kicking a pigskin, he's taking it to a sparring partner.

Now let's get started with this week's Striking Stars: David Akers

Foxtel's The Art Of Fighting - Part 1: Learning To Stand

PART 1 : LEARNING TO STAND / ART OF FIGHTING / UFC ON FOXTEL from FUEL TV Australia on Vimeo.

Australian pay-television giant Foxtel began a short series of educational videos that took a closer look at the fighters of the UFC. Each video focuses on one mixed martial artist, giving each a chance to talk a little about how they got into their chosen sport.

The Art of Fighting is a very thoughtfully produced series ,albeit a bit too brief, and provides a little-seen peek at the stories behind the fists. Check it out when you have a minute. We'll be posting the other two parts as the week progresses.
